Units of the Macedonian Special Forces, accompanied by vans and police vehicles, held a parade in the center of Kumanovo on Saturday morning, inciting reactions and tensions among Albanian citizens.

During the movement through the city, members of the special units were heard chanting slogans with nationalist tones such as: “Here is Macedonia, let everyone know” and “We will fight for Macedonia”.

According to the authorities, the activity has been justified as an “exercise”, however the reactions in the public have been numerous due to the location and the way of organization.

For the first time, members of the Special Units have gone out of the barracks and marched in the most sensitive areas of the city, including the main market street and near Trimave Quarter – a place with special symbolism for the Albanians of Kumanovo.

Residents and reactions on social networks have described this action as a show of force and an open provocation against the Albanian community./teve1
