A group of 41 soldiers of the National Army of Moldova has left for a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.

For the next six months, these Moldovan peacekeepers will work alongside troops from other countries to monitor the security situation in the region. Before the departure, the soldiers completed an extensive training program, writes radiomoldova.md.

As part of the KFOR mission, the contingent will guarantee the security of military facilities and will conduct patrols within its area of ​​responsibility. The Moldovan troops will operate under the Western Regional Command and will be stationed at the “Camp Villaggio Italia” military base in Peja, Kosovo.

Lieutenant Marina Agachi is one of the seven women participating in this mission.

“We are prepared both morally and psychologically, as well as professionally. Several types of training have been conducted, both outside the country and inside it. I have faith in my colleagues and, with the support of male soldiers, we we don’t leave each other behind. They help us and I wish them much success,” says Agachi.

The first Moldovan peacekeeping mission in KOFR took place on March 8, 2014.
