As part of the official visit to Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia, Timco Mucunski, participated in the High Level Meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, which was held on the sidelines of the Council for Foreign Affairs of the European Union (EU), reports Anadolu.
In his speech, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces, Mucunski reaffirmed the country’s support. his for Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing that for more than three years Ukraine is facing an unprovoked and unjustified aggression from Russia, which constitutes a clear violation of the UN Charter and international law.
He emphasized that in addition to the geopolitical consequences, the war has caused great human suffering, while he singled out the fate of children as the most painful symbol of this suffering Ukraine.
“We call for the immediate return of all Ukrainian children who have been taken by force. Their deportation constitutes a serious violation of international law and a direct violation of their human rights, dignity and security,” Mucunski stressed.
He also said that as the aggression enters its fourth year, it is becoming increasingly clear that there can be no lasting peace without accountability.
Talking about reconstruction the future of Ukraine, Mucunski emphasized that the reconstruction of a state does not mean only the reconstruction of the infrastructure, but also the restoration of lives, faith and hope.
“History will not judge us only for the statements we make, but also for the humanity we show. Our task today is to help the children of Ukraine feel safe again, believe again and build their future in a free, peaceful and sovereign Ukraine”. he said.
