Over 890 arrested during violent PSG celebrations across France

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said today that more than 890 people were arrested across France after celebrations of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League win over Arsenal turned into violent celebrations over the weekend, reports Anadolu.

Speaking to France Inter, Nunez said authorities made more than 890 arrests across the country over the two-day period, according to the broadcaster. BFMTV.

He said the figure represented an increase of more than 45 percent compared to last year.

Nunez said 178 police officers and gendarmerie members were injured during the riots.

According to BFMTV, 312 of those arrested were subsequently remanded in custody.
