Several people were reported dead after a school bus was hit by a train in the eastern province of Flanders in Belgium today, according to the daily HLN, Anadolu broadcasts.
A source confirmed to HLN that there have been several casualties in the accident where a school bus was hit by a passenger train this morning at a railway crossing.
It is said that there were seven children and two adults on the bus, including the driver. Several emergency teams were sent to the scene.
It is known that there were about 100 passengers on the train and that all remained unharmed.
The operator of the railway network “Infrabel” emphasized that the lights at the railway crossing were red and the barriers were down at the time of the collision.
He noted that the exact circumstances of the accident are being are investigated.
