California Governor Gavin Newsom has accused US President Donald Trump of targeting him and his family for political reasons, reports Anadolu.

“Donald Trump ordered his Department of Justice to investigate me, and I only learned last week that his campaign has reached my home to attack me. He is coming after my wife, Jen,” Newsom said in a video statement published on the American social media platform. X.

Newsom argued that the focus on him goes beyond political disagreements and is related to his possible future role on the national political stage.

“Donald Trump is not only attacking me because of my posts against him, he is attacking me because I am considering running for president, because he hates the fact that I have repeatedly exposed him for his lies and deceit,” he said.

Newsom described Trump as “the most corrupt president” in American history.

“I have a message for you: You can ask for my documents, you can investigate me, you can harass me, you can put my name on any enemy list you have, but leave my wife and family out of your personal vendetta,” he said.
