The Basic Court in Pristina has decided to continue the trial in the case against Ekrem Bajrović, accused of war crimes, thus postponing the announcement of the judgment that was planned to be made during Monday’s session.
The decision was announced by the president of the court, Avni Syla, who clarified that the procedure will be reopened to enable the re-hearing of a witness in the capacity of the injured.
According to him, the court considered it necessary that Naim Elshani be invited once again to provide clarifications regarding some circumstances that have emerged during the course of the judicial process.
The judging body assessed that the additional testimony can help to clarify the issues raised during the review, before a final decision is made in this case. For this reason, the next session will be held on another date, which is expected to be set by the court.
Bajroviqi was sentenced by the Basic Court in Pristina on July 19, 2024 to 12 years in prison, after being found guilty of war crimes committed during 1998-1999 in the territory of the Municipality of Istog and the surrounding areas. /
