The Kosovo police have announced that they have arrested two people at the border point of Hani Elez, on suspicion of smuggling migrants.
According to the announcement, the incident happened on Tuesday, around 21:30, in which case a person was observed accompanying three other people on foot from the village of Bllacë in North Macedonia, towards the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
“The suspected persons, after illegally crossed the border line, upon reaching the road between two border crossing points, they continued moving with a vehicle that was suspected to be waiting for them,” the announcement states.
According to the police, as a result of the actions of the border patrol units, it was possible to stop the suspected vehicle, in which there were two citizens of Kosovo, as well as three migrants, citizens of India, who were caught red-handed during smuggling.
“By order of the competent prosecutor, the case of “Smuggling with migrants” was initiated, while one of the suspects was sent to detention for 48 hours, while the other suspect, after being interviewed in the presence of the defense lawyer, was released in a regular procedure,” the announcement states.
The three migrants, according to the police, were sent to the Migrant Reception Center, where they were treated by the Migration Unit and Foreign.
Also, by order of the prosecutor, the suspected vehicle with local license plates, as well as a mobile phone, were confiscated as material evidence. /Klankosova.tv
