US and Philippine air forces begin joint air exercise “Cope Thunder 26”

The US and Philippine air forces began their annual joint air exercise on Monday at Basa Air Base near Manila.

The event was attended by Brigadier General Angelito Retuta of the Philippine Air Force, Major General Jose Bonifacio Calub and Brigadier General Phillip Mallory of the US Air Force.

Cope Thunder started in the Philippines in 1976, later moved to Alaska in 1992 and restarted in the Philippines in 2023.
