A group of 15 countries are working closely with Prishtina officials in order to make the Republic of Kosovo a member of UNESCO.
This is what Petrit Selimi, deputy FM told ‘Zeri’. Selimi admits that among these countries there are states of Quint as well as some powerful countries from Europe, Asia, Africa and America.
In an interview with “Zeri”, Selimi said that the first passing stage is on October of this year, when the Executive Board of UNESCO holds its meeting and where the majority must vote “yes” for Kosovo accession in UNESCO. Later, in November, participants of the General Conference are expected to vote over Kosovo’s membership into this organization.
According to Selimi however US non-participation, which has withdrawn from its vote in the General Conference, presents a handicap for Kosovo.
But a handicap for Kosovo, according to Selimi, is the non-participation of the United States, which has withdrawn from the voting process in the General Conference. Selimi observes that it’s been eight months since Kosovo started its lobbying with various delegations, 195 of which were already contacted.
