These are the photos of the 116 martyrs of the Vushtrri Study.

The latter, on May 2, 1999, were taken out of the column of hundreds of people who had made their way to Albania.

From there within two hours, they were shot.

But on that day, Bahrije Gërxaliu, the wife of the martyr Imer Gërxaliu, managed to escape.

She says every this was planned days before by the Serbs.

“This crime has been organized since April 16, when they blocked us from the village of Studime e Ulët and dragged us up to Studime e Epërme. We stayed here until the night of May 2, on the night of May 2, since the day of Shala, the population has already flooded the village of Ceceli, Studime, there was a hostile population here even with the fall of dusk, they have already arrived and started, they have already planned this genocide”.

That night, May 2, Gërxhaliu’s husband and her brother-in-law were killed.

“I was present with my husband when he was killed, and he was injured for two and a half hours, what those words pierce me every day… It is very difficult when you leave with five children, the eldest 11 and a half years and the youngest 2 years and 6 months, they didn’t even choose my child for 2 years and 6 months and they committed a crime”, says the martyr’s wife.

Elhame Xhafa was also present that night.

“They mistreated us, they beat us, they killed my husband, they killed my brother. I spent three days in the mountain, without food, without drinking”, said Xhafa.

to save Sabri Raci, together with his family.

“My brother, my brother Hyseni saved me the most, Hysen Raci, he saved me, because in that tractor where we were, they drowned those boys who were in that car in this massacre. Luckily, he came down and they barely took us, we survived”, said the witness Sabri Raci.

But the family members are burdened by the fact that no person has yet been punished for these crimes.

“Here is a very big massacre that has passed 27 years, there is still no one, no one convicted to this day for this massacre. So I am asking the institutions to give some importance to this work. Until now, when it comes to matters, they tell me to vote, come here, come and see them here. Still, absolutely no one deals with this work”, says the brother of the fallen martyr, Sami Gërxhaliu.

Among those killed in this massacre, there were unarmed men and boys, women, children and the elderly.
