The Basic Court of Pristina has approved the plea agreement of the former lieutenant of the Kosovo Police, Bojan Jevtiq, accused of espionage.
Preliminarily, this agreement was reached between the accused Jevtiq and the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo.
Prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu also indicated the recommended punishments for the crimes charged against Jevtiqit.
For espionage, he has recommended the imposition of an effective sentence of five to six years in prison, for possession of weapons without a permit, a prison sentence of 6 months has been recommended, which can be replaced by a 6,000 euro fine.
In addition, it has been requested to confiscate the money seized from the accused, in addition to 3,000 euros, and a ban on exercising his function in state bodies for a period five years.
The court will announce the verdict today, reports “Oath of Justice”.
According to the indictment, Jevtiq is accused that from an unspecified period of time until July 17, 2025, respectively until the moment of his arrest, in the capacity of a police officer with the rank of lieutenant and in the position of Head of the Operative Sector at the Border Police Station, with intentionally and continuously transmitted to the Intelligence Service of Serbia (BIA) information and official documents classified as “confidential” and “secret”, which were related to the security and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo.
It is written that the accused sent them to the Security and Intelligence Agency of Serbia (BIA) and that with this action the security of Kosovo was seriously endangered, for which the prosecution requested that the punishment against him be be in accordance with paragraph 6 of article 124 of the Criminal Code, which foresees punishment from 10 years to life imprisonment.
“From an indefinite period of time until 17.07.2025, respectively until the moment of his arrest, the defendant [redacted], in the capacity of a police officer with the rank of lieutenant and in the position of Head of the Operative Sector at the Station Border Police [redacted], deliberately and continuously, has collected, secured and transmitted information and official documents classified as ‘Confidential’ and ‘Secret’, which are related to the security and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo”, says the indictment for Bojan Jevtiqi.
According to the Special Prosecutor’s Office, Jevtiqi has sent information to the BIA due to which the lives of officials of Kosovo’s security institutions have been endangered and also the citizens.
In the indictment it is emphasized that the messaging applications WhatsApp and Telegram were used to transmit state secrets to the BIA official, nicknamed “Kira”, with whom he also met physically on several occasions in Belgrade.
