The Israeli army bombards agricultural areas in southwestern Syria

The Israeli military bombed agricultural areas in the Quneitra region of southwestern Syria on Tuesday, according to official media, Anadolu reports.

Alikhbariah TV reported that Israeli artillery fired three shells into farmland near the village of Taranja in the northern Quneitra region.

No casualties or damage were reported.

The attack came a day after Israeli troops entered the village. Al-Asha in Quneitra and carried out search and raid operations on several houses.

The latest Israeli violations came despite earlier remarks by Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa that negotiations with Israel on a security deal had not reached a dead end, but were facing difficulties due to Israel’s insistence on maintaining a military presence on Syrian territory.

After the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024, Israel declared the collapse of the 1974 Liberation Agreement and moved to occupy the buffer zone along the border.

Despite the new Syrian administration not issuing any threats against Israel, Israeli forces have continued to carry out airstrikes in Syria since the ouster of Assad, killing civilians and targeting military sites, equipment and munitions.
