14 killed in southern Lebanon attacks, Israel continues to violate US-brokered ceasefire

At least 14 people have been killed by Israeli airstrikes that targeted several towns in southern Lebanon, in an open violation of the US-brokered ceasefire that has been in effect since April 17, Anadolu reports.

Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that in the latest strikes, the Al-Harthiyeh area on the outskirts of Adloun city in Lebanon’s Sidon district was hit by an Israeli attack where eight Syrians were killed.

Four people were killed in an Israeli attack on a building in the town of Abbasiyeh near the southern city of Tyre, while another person was killed in another airstrike in Deir Qanoun al-Nahr.

Israeli warplanes also targeted a house in the town of Harayib, injuring several people.

Israel also carried out other airstrikes that hit towns. Gandouriyeh, Frun, Harayib and Mansouri in southern Lebanon.

An Israeli drone attack on the town of Majdal Zoun near Tire city also caused injuries.

In Nabatieh province, Israeli warplanes hit a building in the town of Habboush, destroying it.

Throughout the day, an Israeli drone flying at low altitude was seen over the capital Beirut.

Another attack by drone targeted a motorcycle traveling on the Tyre-Abbasiyeh road, leaving several people injured.

Earlier, a Lebanese policeman was killed in an Israeli drone attack on the city of Aba in Nabatieh province.

Israel has continued attacks on Lebanon despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 17 and was extended for 45 days, starting on May 17 following indirect talks brokered by USA.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli attacks since March 2 have killed 3,355 people nationwide.

The escalation comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on May 25 that he had ordered the military to intensify operations in Lebanon.

Hezbollah has continued to carry out attacks on Israeli forces, stressing that it is responding to Israeli violations of the accord. ceasefire.
