The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Ferit Hoxha, made his first official visit to Pristina in this capacity, where he met with his Kosovar counterpart, Glauk Konjufca, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo.
During the joint press conference, Hoxha said “Kosovo is the absolute priority of Albania’s foreign policy. Every pain of Kosovo is also felt in Albania, just as every success is equally celebrated here. I came here today to convey what Prime Minister Rama has clearly emphasized: who touches Kosovo, touches Albania.”
He added that the relations between the two countries are inseparable and strategic, “I came here today to convey what Prime Minister Rama has clearly emphasized: Who touches Kosovo, touches Albania. I am here to further intensify and deepen our strategic relationship, which is based on the history of indivisible, the interconnected present and the common future of the Albanian nation on both sides of the border, through the common European and Euro-Atlantic future.”
Hoxha emphasized Albania’s support for Kosovo in the European and Euro-Atlantic integration processes, underlining the importance of its membership in the Council of Europe, UNESCO, as well as the rapprochement with NATO and the Partnership for Peace. He declared: “NATO’s presence in Kosovo and the role of KFOR remain key stability factors, because without a safe Kosovo, there can be neither a safe region nor a safe Europe. Albania will never accept or tolerate the violation of the security of the citizens and institutions of Kosovo and will always be on the side of Kosovo, justice and accountability in the face of any act or individual that poses a threat to it.
The attack in Banjska and on the channel Ibër-Lepenc cannot be forgotten and accountability must be complete. I came here today to convey what Prime Minister Rama has clearly emphasized: who affects Kosovo, affects Albania. We agreed that infrastructure and energy links are essential for increasing our mutual interconnection and competitiveness.”
He added that together with Minister Hoxha, they had the opportunity to discuss a series of issues of common interest to the two countries.
Head of Albanian diplomacy also said that “Kosovo is an absolute priority for Albania”, and even recalled the words of Prime Minister Edi Rama, that “who touches Kosovo, touches Albania”. are strategic investments with a direct impact on deepening economic integration and improving the well-being of our citizens.”
On his part, Konjufca assessed the relations between the two countries as close and permanent, emphasizing that, “our meetings are always fraternal, regular and permanent. The foreign policy between Kosovo and Albania is unique, because we represent the interests of the same nation. The Euro-Atlantic path is the definition of the Albanian nation and in this journey our countries are always beside each other.”
He congratulated Albania on the progress in the European integration process:
“In these last steps, we are confident that Albania will be a member of the European Union in two or three years. This will be a historic achievement not only for Albania, but for the entire Albanian nation.”
Hoxha’s visit to Pristina also included other high-level meetings.
At 10:00, he was received by Albulena Haxhiu, Acting President of Kosovo, who congratulated him on his position.”
Then, he met with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who praised him. the visit as evidence of the close relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of mutual support in the European integration processes.
