The Coalition of NGOs for the Protection of Children (KOMF) has called on political parties not to include children in the election campaign.

According to KOMF, children are included and used by political parties in campaigns, calling for such a thing to be stopped.

“Using children for political purposes constitutes a violation of their rights, violates their well-being and is not in the best interest of the child. KOMF i calls on the Central Election Commission to monitor the activities of political entities and, in any case when it is found that children are involved or used in the election campaign, to undertake the relevant actions and measures in accordance with the legislation in force”, says the reaction.

At the same time, KOMF has called on parents not to expose their children to political activities and not to involve them in any form in the electoral campaign, including participation in rallies, promotional activities or events organized by political parties.

Also, KOMF invites the media covering the election process to play an active role in monitoring the respect of children’s rights during the campaign and to report cases of their involvement for political purposes, guaranteeing in every case the protection of the child’s identity, privacy and dignity.
