The Ministry of Defense has clarified that Kosovo has not received an invitation to participate in the NATO Summit held in Turkey, as it is not a NATO member state nor part of the Partnership for Peace Program.
The official response states that Kosovo has never been invited to the summit as a participating state, with the exception of some special activities organized on the sidelines of the summit, including an event organized by the “Women, Peace and Security” campaign from the US State Department during last year’s summit.
“Regarding your interest in the reports that Kosovo has not received an invitation to participate in the NATO Summit, we inform you that the Republic of Kosovo is not a member state of NATO nor part of the Partnership for Peace Program (Partnership for Peace – PfP). For this reason, it does not participate in NATO Summits as a participating state. Even in the past, Kosovo has not received an invitation to participated in the NATO Summit as a participating state. The exception was the invitations for special activities organized on the margins of the Summit, such as the “Women, Peace and Security” activity, organized by the United States Department of State during the NATO Summit last year”. and invited partners in certain cases”.
The Ministry emphasizes that “Kosovo remains committed to the path towards NATO membership, continuing with reforms and close cooperation with the alliance and member states”.
