The acting president, Albulena Haxhiu, has stated that she will not be a candidate for president from the Vetëvendosje Movement.
Speaking about the post-election process, Haxhiu has said that the certification of the election results must first be awaited, after which meetings will be held with political parties to reach a consensus regarding the new institutions.
According to her, the aim is to reach a political agreement so that the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo to elect the president with a five-year mandate and to continue the institutional processes.
“We are waiting first for the certification of the results to happen. After the certification, there will definitely be meetings with the political parties and I hope that we can find a consensus so that the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo can vote for the president with a five-year mandate and continue the work and responsibilities we have,” Haxhiu stated.
She added that first the Assembly must be constituted and the Government elected, while then the new speaker of the Assembly will have the constitutional right to mandate the candidate for prime minister of the country.
