The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MAShTI) announces to the public opinion that, due to the recent rainfall and difficult conditions in some areas of the country, it has decided to postpone the start of the teaching process until January 12, 2026.
As a result of the floods and the aggravated situation in most municipalities, as well as the difficult circulation due to continuous rains, which according to the Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute (IHMK) are expected to continue in the coming days causing local flooding, traffic difficulties, problems in the sewage systems and traffic obstacles, the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation has decided that the winter break will continue for two more days at the national level, on January 8 and 9, respectively.
Classes for the second semester will begin on Monday, January 12 2026.
MAShTI is in constant communication with all the Municipal Directorates of Education and, based on the information received from the field, it has been established that the start of the educational process planned for Thursday is impossible. For this reason, the teaching process will begin next week, while the lost teaching hours during these two days will be replaced during the second part of the 2025/2026 school year for all levels of pre-university education.
The Ministry thanks parents, students and teachers for their understanding and cooperation, reiterating that the safety of students and educational staff remains a top priority.
