Around 50 MPs have signed a legal incentive for the removal from duty of the president of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, George Ivanov.

According to the initiators, this request is based on the unacceptability of the presidential decree to grant amnesty to 56 politicians involved in unlawful and corrupt affairs.

This incentive has been backed by the Albanian party in power, BDI (Democratic Union for Integration).

To hold president Ivanov accountable, there must be a majority of two thirds or 82 votes out of the general number of MPs.

So far 50 votes have been secured. But, given that VMRO-DPMNE of Nikola Gruevski has 59 MPs, it seems very unlikely for this majority to be achieved.

However, given this incentive, Ivanov must offer explanations in front of MPs. According to the law, he must personally appear during the session. But he may also send the vice president.
