After the meeting Sorensen-Kurti, the head of the EU Office: The law on foreigners will be implemented with additional measures

The head of the European Union Office in Pristina, Aivo Orav, has stated that an agreement has been reached with Kosovo’s institutions on the implementation of the Law on Foreigners, which is expected to be implemented from tomorrow.

He said that during the meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, they discussed local issues and the importance of resolving them as soon as possible, so that the country can move forward in the process of European integration.

According to Orav, in In recent weeks, intense discussions have been held between the European Union and the Government of Kosovo regarding the implementation of this law, while an agreement has already been reached that includes some additional measures.

“We hope that all those local issues will be resolved as soon as possible so that we can move forward with the EU integration process. First, in the meeting with Kurt, we focused on the full implementation of the Law on Foreigners, we discussed the implementation that will start from tomorrow, we had discussions intense with the Government of Kosovo during the last weeks and today the agreement and implementation of the Law on Foreigners has been achieved with some additional substantive measures, especially when it comes to the registration of Kosovo Serb residents and persons with temporary residence permits”, stated Orav at the press conference after the meeting of the EU emissary Peter Sorensen with the Prime Minister Albin Kurt.
