Bones are found that are suspected to belong to a missing person from the war in Drenas

Kosovo Police has announced that in the village of Negroc in Drenas on Thursday, bones were found that are suspected to belong to at least one person who disappeared during the war.

“On 16.04.2026, the relevant units carried out the investigative action of excavation/exhumation at the location of the cemetery of the martyrs in the aforementioned village, there were found bones that are suspected to belong to at least one person, who is suspected to have disappeared during the war period 1998-1999”, says the 24-hour Police report.

The remains of the bones have reportedly been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for forensic examination.
