Sofia – Bulgarian Prime Minister, Bojko Borisov, considered it a historic achievement for Bulgaria after Albania recognized the Bulgarian minority with the new law.
“After 104 years, Albania recognized the ethnic Bulgarian community”, Borisov writes, saying this is a result of the extraordinary efforts that the Bulgarian diplomacy has done to defend the rights of Bulgarians abroad.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister thanks his Albanian counterpart, Edi Rama, who, according to Borisov, kept his promise and “didn’t allow the rights of the Bulgarian community in Albania to be violated”.
The recognition of the Bulgarian minority in Albania was done after an official request of Bulgaria, which didn’t agree with the initial variant of the Law for Minorities.
