Prishtina – Following the allocation of an international country code, Kosovo’s public operator Vala has conducted the first call by using the allocated +383 dialing code.
The call was conducted few moments ago and it was confirmed to RTKlive by Vala officials.
It is to be noted that the technical trial for the implementation of the code is going very well and it is expected to continue through the final implementation.
Kosovo has received an important mark of recognition eight years after declaring independence from Serbia: its own telephone country code.
Landlines in Kosovo previously required the 381 code the International Telecommunication Union had granted to the former Yugoslavia and which was later used by Serbia.
For now, mobile phone networks in Kosovo still will use either Monaco’s code — 377 — or Slovenia’s 386.
