On 22.03.2026, around 18:30, a traffic accident was reported on the Prizren-Gjakovë highway, in the village of Piranë, Prizren, Gazeta e Prizren reports.

According to the first information, a pedestrian was hit by a car while trying to cross the road. As a result of serious bodily injuries, the pedestrian D.H., an 81-year-old man, died at the scene, which was confirmed by the emergency medical team.

Police units immediately went to the scene and undertook the necessary investigative actions. The suspect was arrested and by the prosecutor’s decision he was detained for further proceedings.

By order of the prosecutor, the dead body of the victim was sent for an autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Prishtina.

The police are continuing the investigation to fully clarify the circumstances of the accident.
