The African Union condemns the attacks in Mali, expresses solidarity with the security forces

The African Union has condemned the recent attacks in Mali, warning of the danger they pose to civilians.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, stated that he “strongly condemns these acts”, stressing that they may expose the civilian population to great danger.

He also reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to peace and stability, expressing solidarity with the people of Mali and the forces of security.

Clashes between the Malian army and unidentified armed groups, which the authorities have described as “terrorist”, have hit the capital Bamako and several other regions of the country.

According to the Malian army, the situation is “under control” and the attackers have suffered heavy losses. Attacks were also reported in the cities of Gao and Kidal in the north, as well as in Sevare in the central part of the country. /message
