Morocco has inaugurated a new $700 million skyscraper, aiming to further strengthen its tourism sector and international presence.

The Mohammed VI Tower, with 55 floors and about 250 meters in height, is one of the tallest buildings in Africa. It is located in the city of Salé, opposite the capital Rabat.

The project includes a luxury Waldorf Astoria hotel, offices, shops, restaurants and elite apartments. According to the developers, the tower is expected to create around 450 direct jobs and over 3,500 indirect jobs.

Construction has lasted eight years and involved more than 2,500 workers from many countries. The tower has already been included on the country’s 200 dirham banknote.

The project aims to put Rabat and Salé on the international tourism map, at a time when Morocco is already the most visited destination in Africa and is preparing to co-host the FIFA World Cup 2030.

However, critics point out that economic development remains mainly concentrated in the Atlantic coastal areas, while other regions continue to lag behind. developed. /message
