For two and a half months of work, the deputies of the tenth legislature have received over 575 thousand euros for salaries, not including other expenses, including those for their assistants. If they are left with no other income, the Assembly will continue to pay them their salary for a consecutive year, even if they are not re-elected as MPs.
Exactly 77 days was the lifespan of the tenth legislature of the Assembly. And for this entire period, its composition has approved 35 laws, of which 24 are international agreements.
For two and a half months, about 575 thousand euros were spent on the salaries of 120 deputies, not including other expenses, including the salaries of their assistants. And they will continue to receive the full salary for another year, if they do not have another job, all those who will not enter the competition for the next mandate and also those who compete and do not receive the trust of the citizens.
The law on the rights and responsibilities of the deputy, namely its article 16, provides that “until the beginning of the realization of financial income from another source, or from the realization of the pension, from the day of the end of the mandate the deputy has the right to basic salary for twelve (12) months”.
The basic salary of a deputy is 1 thousand 914 euros. For one year, a deputy who has no other source of income costs the state budget nearly 23,000 euros.
In addition to salary expenses, 75 deputies have used the right to have personal assistants. The assistant’s salary is nearly 900 euros, so for one month 67 thousand 500 euros were spent on them. Meanwhile, nearly 2 million euros was the cost of the expenses that were caused to the state budget for the salaries of deputies and their assistants in the ninth legislature, even though that composition was constituted and distributed without even managing to form the government.
One month after the end of during the term of the ninth legislature, 67 MPs declared themselves unemployed before the Assembly, in order to receive the temporary salary of 1,914 euros per month.
The re-election of the majority of them significantly reduced this number.
According to the Assembly, currently 15 former MPs are receiving the temporary salary, 6 from the PDK, 6 from the LDK, one from Nisma and two from communities.
“Currently, 15 former MPs are enjoying the right to temporary salary: Abelard Tahiri, Alban Zogaj, Albert Kinolli, Altin Krasniqi, Arben Gashi, Arjeta Abazi, Eliza Hoxha, Fatmir Limaj, Fidan Jilta, Hysen Çekaj, Kosovare Murseli, Krenar Xhaferi, Memli Krasniqi, Paris Guri and Rashit Qalaj”, he announced. Assembly.
From the PDK, although they were not re-elected, three deputies did not apply for this salary, Jakup Nura, Fadil Demaku and Xhevahir Geci.
From the LDK they did not apply: Marigona Geci, Ekrem Hyseni and Serbeze Muçaj.
From the AAK, Lahi Brahimaj and from Nisma Xhevahire Izmaku and Arbresha. Krasniqi.
From the Serbian List, Zlatan Elek, Sergjan Popović and Stefan Kovaqeviq did not apply for this compensation.
The Assembly of Kosovo was dissolved on April 28 after the failure of the presidential election.
