Often we would expect clear signs when we have diabetes, but this is not always the case. Most adults diagnosed have no symptoms at all, and when they do, they are very mild and difficult to notice.

Doctors explain that the most common symptoms are frequent urination, excessive thirst and blurred vision. But there are other more hidden signs such as numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, weight loss without reason, constant fatigue, darkening of the skin in some areas and frequent infections in women.

1. Constant fatigue that does not go away with rest
Fatigue is not just feeling sleepy. Even after resting, the person continues to feel without energy.

This is because changes in blood sugar levels and obesity can affect the body’s energy and mental state.

2. Unusual thirst and frequent urination
This happens because excess sugar in the blood makes the kidneys work harder to filter it out. When they cannot cope, the body loses fluids and dehydration occurs, increasing the feeling of thirst and the need to urinate.

3. Increased hunger and weight loss without reason
When the body fails to use sugar as energy, a person feels more hungry, but at the same time loses weight because he loses calories through urination and disordered metabolism.

4. Blurred or changing vision
High blood sugar can draw fluid from the body, including from the eye, affecting vision. If left untreated, it can damage the blood vessels in the eye and lead to vision loss.

5. Horizontal stripes on nails
These can appear even after a mild trauma, but in some cases they are related to more serious diseases, including diabetes.

6. Sweet breath
Sweet-smelling breath may be associated with blood sugar disorders and pre-diabetic conditions.

7. Stinging, burning or numbness in the leg
This may be the result of nerve and blood circulation damage due to high blood sugar. If it lasts for several weeks, a medical check-up is recommended.
