Hungary plans to include in the Constitution a two-term limit for the Prime Minister, up to four years.
According to Bloomberg, the corresponding amendment was proposed by the party of the new Prime Minister Peter Magyar.
Under the initiative, a person will not be able to hold the position of the head of the government for more than two consecutive terms, or a total of eight years.
If the new rule applies to previous terms, former Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who led the government for 16 years, would effectively be banned from running for office again.
