The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in releasing the preliminary report of the Institute of Crimes Committed During the War in Kosovo, said that during the period January 1, 1998 – June 20, 1999, 12,230 people were killed in the war in Kosovo.

Among those killed are 1,047 children between the ages of 0 and 17, while 94 died as a result of the conditions of of the war, 100 are still missing.

In his speech during the presentation of this report, Kurti said this report is evidence of the expensive price of freedom.

He said that this report is a state obligation to document the crimes of Serbia.

“This report is institutional evidence of the expensive price of freedom that we enjoy together. The report represents people, lives, families and histories that cannot be reduced to numbers, but that our state has an obligation to document them accurately, with dignity and responsibility. For the period January 1, 1998-June 20, 1999, a total of 12,230 victims were documented in the war in Kosovo. Each number tells us about the loved ones who were killed and the loss that we feel today in the age group from 0 to 17 years, 1,047 children were killed, 94 died as a result of war conditions, while the fate of the 100 children who disappeared due to violence is still unknown,” said Kurti, among other things, reports teve1.info.

Most of the victims were documented in the period March-June 1999.

During the months of March and June of that year, killed 9,948 people, which make up about 81.3% of all the victims documented in this report.

“The scope of this report, or this list, is limited to only three categories. It means, in this list, or in this report, information is presented on the number and details of people killed, people disappeared by violence, and people who died as a result of the war”, explained the director of the institute.

also talked about the excavations that have started in Kalludër of Zubin Potok, where a mass grave is suspected.

He said that this proves that for many families the war in Kosovo is not over yet.

Kurti has criticized Serbia for not opening the archives, calling on the international community to put pressure on Serbia.
