Sweden’s Isabella and Rasmus Wranaa won mixed doubles gold at the Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The Wranaa siblings defeated Americans Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin 6-5 in a thrilling final.

Sweden is the second most successful curling nation in Winter Olympic history behind Canada, but has not won never before a mixed doubles gold medal.

It is 28-year-old Isabella’s first Olympic medal, while her three-year-old brother Rasmus also won team gold in Beijing and bronze in Pyeongchang.

The home team of Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner won bronze thanks to a 5-3 victory over Britain’s Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat.

Constantini and Mosader are were defending the gold medal they won four years ago in Beijing in Cortina, and they also arrived at this competition as the reigning world champions, but their golden streak was cut short on Monday when they lost the semi-final to the USA 8-9.

On the other hand, Dodds and Mouat achieved the best record in the group stage with eight wins and one loss, but in the knockout stage of the competition they lost in the semi-finals to Sweden 3-9, and now in the fight for bronze against Italy. With the loss, Dodds and Mouat finished their second consecutive Winter Olympics in fourth place, reports Hina.
