Tirana – Prime Minister Edi Rama was seen today in the early hours of the morning, having a cup of coffee together with Tax Authority Chairwoman Brisda Shehaj and his Head of Communication, Endri Fuga, in a clear message to promote the use from businesses and customers of the tax receipt one day after the government started the operation against informality in the economy.

According to Rama, the state loses 61 milion USD just from coffee cups and water bottles sold without the tax receipt, a big loss for the state budged and the taxpayers themselves. “I need to dismiss one more time the accusations that this operation will target small businesses, because by requesting the tax receipt, we reduce the possibility of tax evasion to the big companies”, Rama said.

Commenting on long rows on the National Licensing Agency, where the staff is working extra hours in order to satisfy peoples’ need to register their businesses, Rama said they should have registered long time before, something that has contributed to unfair competition in the market, where honest businesses have struggle to compete against tax evaders./TCH/
