The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo has recommended the suspension of two police officers in two separate cases, one in Mitrovica and the other in Gjilan.

According to the official announcement, the first case occurred on 15.04.2026, where there is a well-founded suspicion that a police officer with the rank of sergeant, during the exercise of his official duties, committed the criminal offense of “Misuse of position or authority” official”.

Regarding this case, it has been announced that by order of the State Prosecutor from the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjilan, a criminal case has been initiated against him.

“By order of the State Prosecutor from the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjilan, a criminal case has been initiated against the sergeant for ‘Misuse of official position or authority'”, the communiqué states.

While the second case occurred on 16.04.2026, where a police officer with the rank of lieutenant, during the interview at the premises of the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo, is suspected of making an unannounced recording of the investigators and the interview process.

“During the interview at the PIK, the police officer was found making an unannounced recording of the investigators and the interview process”, the announcement states.

In this case, by order of the State Prosecutor from the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Pristina, a criminal case has been initiated for the offense “Photography and other unauthorized recording”.
