Israeli drone strike kills medic in southern Lebanon despite ceasefire

A medic was killed on Wednesday in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon, despite the cease-fire in effect between the two sides, Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported, Anadolu reports.

According to the agency, the attack hit Al-Ain neighborhood in Arab Salim city, Nabatieh district, killing a medic associated with the Risala Scout Association.

NNA reported that a a second Israeli drone strike later hit the Labbaneh neighborhood in the same city.

There were no immediate reports of other casualties or damage.

The attack came a day after Lebanese and Israeli officials held the fourth round of US-brokered talks in Washington, aimed at preserving the ceasefire and resolving outstanding security issues.

Israel has continued almost daily airstrikes and ground offensive in Lebanon, despite a cease-fire that took effect on April 17 and was subsequently extended until early July.

According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, Israeli attacks since March 2 have killed 3,468 people and wounded 10,577 nationwide.

Israel continues to occupy several areas of southern Lebanon, including occupied territories. decades, as well as areas taken during the 2023-2024 conflict. Israeli forces have also advanced several kilometers into Lebanese territory during the current clashes.
