Kearns: Serbia has armed the attack group in Banjska, democracy is being threatened

The British MP who is a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Alicia Kearns said that Serbia has armed the members of the group that carried out the terrorist attack in Banjska, where police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed, KosovaPress reports.

In the video she shared on the “X” network, from her speech at the Council of Europe, Kearns spoke in defense of the citizens of Serbia, who, in her opinion, deserve free elections, a free press and a democracy freed from corruption and state capture.

“Europe must not look the other way while democratic freedoms are being destroyed”, she writes in X.

Based on the tragedy that happened in Novi Sad, Kearns mentioned the protests noting that 4 million people took to the streets.

She sounded the alarm about the media in Serbia stressing that the free press is a the foundation on which democracy is built. According to her, the media in Serbia are being “deliberately dismantled and in the eyes of the public”.
