In a Facebook posting, Kosovo Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci announced that Kosovo was recognized by the state of Niue, a country in the Pacific Ocean.

“Last night I received a verbal note from Toko Talagi, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the state of Niue, which is located in the Pacific Ocean, on the recognition of Kosovo and establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. Niue sovereign votes in agencies such as UNESCO, WTO, WHO, etc. represents a contribution in gathering the majority of votes needed for Kosovo’s membership in UN agencies,” Thaçi wrote.
