Pensioners and the private sector: The package to deal with inflation is back for a vote

Monday, May 4th 2026

The pensioners’ association, as well as the private sector workers’ union, are demanding that the package to deal with inflation be returned to the Assembly for a vote, although they consider it as a short-term solution.

However, some decisions that have an impact on their lives, this pensioner says they are not moving. inflation.

“I don’t know what kind of deputies they are, when the prime minister is trying to give the last cent by helping the population, the needy, the poor, and they don’t vote because they have the good salaries, they are playing with the people’s votes, they are not from another planet, but there will come a day when they don’t have me there”, said a pensioner.

“These are either crackers or sold out, those who don’t vote with you, help the children, pensioners, pregnant women, the people who need it the most, or they are broke or for me they are sold out”, said another pensioner.

But unlike them, another pensioner thinks.

“They have done a lot of good for Albini by giving him 200 million grapes and plums. another pensioner.

The package to deal with inflation, according to the chairman of the association of pensioners, would only be a short-term solution.

“This temporary help was welcome, but it does not solve any problem for pensioners. We insist that the problems be solved by law, that is, a law be made for the pension fund and the permanent issue be solved. That it has not been voted is not good, a far state weakness, which was not approved, if we had taken it little by little we would have made a mini-solution to the problem”. said Kastrati.

The package presented by the Minister of Finance Hekuran Murati was aimed at helping private sector employees as well.

Therefore, they are asking the Union to bring this item back for a vote once again.

“We have opposed the non-voting of this package because the poor people do not care who is voting and who is not. But we were outraged when we received the news because they had to vote regardless, we are convinced that this has a political background. We appeal to the deputies of Kosovo, because they have until tomorrow to approve this package,” said Azemi.

Economist Jakup Bellaqa shows that inflation has increased significantly in recent months.

“Any increase and financial support for certain companies, for certain categories, especially those with low incomes, the pension categories, as well as the employees in the private sector with low incomes, it is good that inflation is increasing, last month inflation was 6.5% higher than ever. I hope that it will be approved as soon as possible in the short-term aspect.

The package for coping with inflation was not voted by the Parliament, as considered an attempt by the government to buy votes, at a time when extraordinary elections seem inevitable.
