Serbian Prime Minister Gjuro Macut said that Turkish-Serbian relations are experiencing their “golden age”.
Prime Minister Macut, who came to Antalya to participate in the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF), answered Anadolu’s questions. Assessing Turkey-Serbia relations, Macut stated that the foundation of these relations rests on the good relations between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
He pointed out that this is the best period for economic relations since the First World War. “I think this period is the golden era of relations between Serbia and Turkey in recent history,” Macut said.
Declaring that there are “excellent” relations at the political level as well as the economic level, Macut said: “At the same time, the ties between the two countries in terms of human rights and the relations established with the population of Muslim origin in Serbia are also of great importance.”
Macut added that they expect President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit again. Serbia, saying: “We believe that we can strengthen our cooperation in areas such as infrastructure projects, economy, cultural relations and education. Therefore, we are going through a very good period in terms of relations and cooperation between our countries”.
– “We can expect Turkey to take a stabilizing role”
Regarding the question about Turkey’s role in maintaining peace in the Balkans, Macut emphasized the role that Turkey played in the tension Russia-Ukraine.
“Taking into account this situation and the historical perspective of Turkey as a major power in the region, we can expect Turkey to take a stabilizing role not only in Europe, but especially in the Mediterranean and the Middle East”, Macut said.
In this context, Macut emphasized that Turkey’s presence in the Western Balkans is a “big advantage”. “The wisdom of Turks and Turkey will provide great support in solving critical problems,” said the Serbian prime minister.
