The Association of Journalists of Kosovo has announced the decision taken this Wednesday on A.I.’s one-year prison sentence after the threat to the teams of journalists and monitors of Betimi per Drehtësi and Nationale.

In the announcement, AGK said it refers to an announcement by the Basic Court of Gjilan, which states that “A.I. has been sentenced to one (1) year in prison, which sentence will not be executed if the defendant within 2 (two) years he did not commit another criminal act”.

“A.I addressed a property hearing in Viti, the journalist of Nacional, Eriola Cacaj, the cameraman Drilon Namani, as well as the monitor of the Oath of Justice, Flamur Kabashi. The case took place on January 30”.

“AGK welcomes the efficiency with which the Court handled this case and the priority given with the belief that this practice will continue in the future”, it was said in the AGK announcement.

AGK says that it has welcomed the Strategy of the KGjK approved in January of this year, which prioritizes court cases related to defamation and the safety of journalists and members of civil society. /Klankosova.tv
