Children and women among 11 killed in Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon

Israeli airstrikes today killed 11 people, including two children and two women in south and east Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health and state media, Anadolu reports.

The Ministry of Health said in a statement that an Israeli strike hit a motorcycle in the city of Tyre, killing a Palestinian man.

Another attack in Ansariyeh village in Sidon district killed five people, including two children, and wounded five others. the ministry added. In Nabatieh district, an airstrike in Jbaa village killed four people, including two women, the ministry said.

The National News Agency reported that a Lebanese man was killed in a separate morning attack that hit his house in Hebbariyeh village in Hasbaya district. Israeli warplanes struck the Jabal al-Rafii area in the Iqlim al-Tuffah highlands and targeted a house overnight in the Salam neighborhood of Nabatieh, the agency said.

In the Bint Jbeil district, an attack hit the area between the villages of Kafra and Haris. The agency said heavy clashes broke out in Bint Jbeil between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces, involving Israeli warplanes and helicopters.

Intermittent fighting also took place at the city’s entrances as Israeli forces destroyed houses near the main market, according to the report. The Israeli military renewed warnings for residents south of the Zahrani River to evacuate their homes and head north ahead of possible attacks.

The director of Tebnine Hospital in Bint Jbeil district, Mohammad Hammoud, said an Israeli strike hit the area around the hospital, causing extensive damage.

Another strike hit a nearby commercial building, causing a fire that civil defense teams put out, he added. Israeli jets carried out strikes early today in the villages of Sarafand and Tebnine and targeted an office of a Palestinian organization in the Burj al-Shamali camp, the agency said.

In the Marjayoun district, overnight strikes hit the villages of Khiam and Debbineh along with artillery bombardment. In the western Bekaan, Israeli jets carried out two dawn strikes in the village of Sahmar, causing extensive damage to houses, the agency said.

Other strikes hit Wadi Shbeil in the Qatrani area of Jezzine after overnight raids in the same area cut power to the villages of Qatrani and Sreireh, according to the report.

Israel has continued attacks in Lebanon following a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2, despite a cease-fire agreement in November 2024. Lebanese health authorities say more than 2,160 people have been killed, more than 7,000 injured and more than a million displaced since March.
