The UN today reported at least 49 illegal Israeli settler attacks across the West Bank in a single week, Anadolu reports.

Citing the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said during a press conference that between May 12 and 18, Israeli settler attacks “caused casualties or damage, including an increase in attacks with arson against houses, agricultural lands, vehicles and a mosque”.

“With this, over 870 settler attacks in more than 220 communities have caused casualties or material damage this year alone”, he said.

Dujarric also commented on a decision by the Israeli Supreme Court that affects international non-governmental organizations operating in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, stressing that “international NGOs are indispensable for general humanitarian operations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories” and that “their work should and needs to be facilitated”.

He said that humanitarian workers continue to provide aid in Gaza “despite obstacles” of which they are informed almost daily, warning that “essential supplies must be urgently allowed to enter Gaza to avoid the risk of equipment collapse”.
