The Kosovo Police has prevented a case of smuggling of goods in the border area with Serbia.

According to the official announcement, on May 19, 2026, border police units in the village of Herticë in Podujeva stopped a tractor with a trailer, which was transporting goods smuggled from the territory of Serbia to Kosovo, through mountain roads and outside the border points.

During the control, the police found 161 canisters filled with a total of 2898 liters of motor oil.

The seized goods were sent to the customs terminal in Merdar for further procedures by the Kosovo Customs.

With the authorization of the state prosecutor, the case was initiated for the criminal offenses “Unauthorized crossing of border crossings or the border line” and “Smuggling of goods”.

The suspect, after being interviewed by the authorities, was released in a regular procedure, while the investigations related to the case are continuing.
