US President Donald Trump said that Iran has announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz for full passage, reports Anadolu.
“Iran has just announced that the Strait of Iran (Hormuz) is fully open and ready for full passage. Thank you,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
His statements came shortly after Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that the Strait of Hormuz is “fully open” to all commercial ships, linking the decision to the cease-fire in Lebanon.
The decision was made “in line with the cease-fire in Lebanon,” Araghchi said in a statement on the American social platform X.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced a ten-day cease-fire between Israel and Lebanon.
Tehran imposed control over this key sea route. shortly after the US and Israel launched a war against Iran on February 28, affecting global energy supplies and maritime traffic.
