Prishtina – Kosovo’s Constitutional Court said Wednesday that part of the accord for the establishment of the Serb majority municipalities are not in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo.
Kosovo PM, Isa Mustafa, said today that the ruling of the Constitutional Court has “reaffirmed once again that the negotiations and all the undertaken actions of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo on the establishment of the Association of Serb majority Municipalities are an obligation and enjoy the support of the article 19 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo -on the implementation of international law “.
“We will now continue, as guided by the Constitutional Court ruling, with a government decree, which will go to the Constitutional Court, with the statute on which we have an interest to have representatives and international experts and internal experts of opposition “, said Mustafa, at today’s cabinet meeting in Prishtina.
“The government ensures that the entire process and any legal act to finalize the establishment of the Association of Serb-majority municipalities will be based and respect the Constitutional Court’s conclusions presented in the reasoning of the judgment”, he said.

Calling on all political spectrum to respect the decision of the Constitutional Court, Mustafa said that after this, “there is no reason to further stalling of the Assembly works, there is no reason to further street protests, because the decision of the Court was very clear.”
Opposition parties, the Vetevendosje Movement, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and Initiative for Kosovo, have described the agreement as anti-constitutional and while asking for its abrogation, have been blocking Assembly proceedings for three months./rtk/
