Israel moved its official government plane to Germany for security reasons over the weekend, Stefan Kornelius, spokesman for German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, confirmed today, Anadolu reports.

At a press conference in Berlin, Kornelius said that no Israeli government official was on the plane when it arrived at Berlin airport on Saturday.

“The Israeli government asked if they could park this plane here. We were happy to fill it.” this request,” he said, adding that only the flight crew was present when the plane arrived in Berlin.

The plane, known as the Wing of Zion, took off from Israel on Saturday, sparking speculation on social media that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might be heading to Germany.

Flight tracking data showed the plane took off from Israel early Saturday afternoon, circling for hours over the Sea Mediterranean, then flew to Germany and landed in Berlin that evening.

The specially equipped Boeing 767 serves as the official aircraft for overseas travel by both the president and prime minister of Israel. According to Israeli media reports, the plane is equipped with advanced secure communication systems.
