The total number of people from Ukraine receiving temporary protection increased by 22,415, or 0.5 percent, reaching 4.4 million at the end of February compared to January, Eurostat data show, Anadolu reports.
Germany hosted the largest number of beneficiaries with 1.27 million people, representing 28.8 percent of the total in the EU.
Poland followed Germany with 966,595 people, or 22 percent, and the Czech Republic with 399,630 individuals, accounting for 9.1 percent of the total.
The number of people under temporary protection increased in 24 EU countries, with the largest increases in Germany, the Czech Republic and Spain, while Estonia, France and Luxembourg recorded declines.
The Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia recorded the highest ratios of beneficiaries of temporary protection per thousand inhabitants, respectively 36.6, 26.5 and 26, significantly above the EU average of 9.8.
Ukrainian nationals made up over 98.4 percent of beneficiaries at the end of February.
Adult women accounted for 43.5 percent of the total, while minors 30.2 percent and adult men 26.3 percent. percent.
The European Council extended the mandate of temporary protection for these persons until March 2027 during a decision taken last year.
