Today, starting at 11:30, the Central Election Commission will hold the first meeting after setting the date of June 7, 2026 for the holding of early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo.

The first decisions on the agenda will be the setting of the deadlines for election activities and the approval of the budget plan.

CEC spokesperson, Valmir Elezi has shown that with the plan of activities, the CEC regulates the issues on which the entire election process is built and that relate to voters, political subjects and observers.

“So, here are defined the deadline for political parties to form coalitions and declare non-participation in the elections; the deadline for political subjects to certify and submit the list of candidates for deputies; and the election campaign period. Also, through this plan, the CEC also sets the time for the registration of voters outside Kosovo, voting through the post office and in diplomatic missions, as well as the registration of voters with special needs. Part of this plan is also the setting of deadlines for the accreditation of observers and the media,” said Elezi.

According to him, since these are early elections, “their organization is done with short deadlines and that the CEC will adapt these deadlines as needed and in accordance with the circumstances.

Also, Elezi has indicated that in this meeting the CEC is expected to approve the budget planning necessary for the organization of the elections.

“The year 2026 is not an election year and this means that in the annual budget of the CEC divided by the budget law, there are no funds planned for early elections. In such circumstances, as has been done in the past, the CEC turns to the Government of Kosovo with a request for the means that are necessary to cover the expenses”, he said.
