Problems for Real Madrid: Mbappe risks important matches

Saturday, April 25th 2026

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé picked up an injury during Friday night’s 1-1 draw with Real Betis at La Cartuja, where Héctor Bellerín scored a late equalizer to further dampen their title hopes. The French forward was himself the one who asked for the substitution, without it being clear what had happened.

Around the 80th minute, with Real Madrid in the lead, Mbappé advanced from the right wing past the defenders and then assisted Vinícius Júnior, before lying on the ground for a moment. He got up quickly, but immediately asked for a replacement and headed for the tunnel without being examined by the medical staff.

After the match, Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa did not provide additional details about his condition.

“I don’t know, I have no idea. There was a concern and we’ll see how it develops in the coming days,” he declared. “Los Blancos” hope this is not a similar situation to that of Arda Güler and Éder Militão, who were ruled out for the rest of the season.

Militão also left the game against Alavés as a precaution, before being diagnosed with a hamstring injury.

Hope is that Mbappé has had an easier time, as Diario AS reports a suspected muscle strain. If confirmed, he could be back in time for next weekend’s game against Espanyol and the El Clasico against Barcelona in two weeks’ time.
