The fourth round of US-mediated talks between Lebanon and Israel began on Tuesday at the US State Department in Washington, after the participating delegations arrived, Lebanon’s State News Agency (NNA) reported, Anadolu reports.

Further details on the agenda of the talks were not immediately available.

Israel has continued military operations in Lebanon, violating a ceasefire brokered by The U.S. came into effect on April 17 and was subsequently extended until early July.

According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, at least 3,433 people have been killed and 10,395 wounded in Israeli attacks since March 2.

The conflict has displaced more than a million people and caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, including schools, health facilities, mosques and church.

Israel has recently asked its forces to “expand the maneuver,” but US President Donald Trump said Monday that Israeli forces will not move toward Beirut after a phone call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
